Kim Berit Heppelmann was born in Hamburg. In 1996 she started her three-year apprenticeship as dressmaker in an atelier for custom-made garments in her home town, and simultaneously completed courses in drawing and painting at a local school of arts. In 2001 she enrolled at the “Academia di Costume e di Moda” in Rome to study Costume and Fashion Design, and then in 2003 began her studies in Fashion Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht. She has previously worked as a dressmaker and designed costumes for theatre productions. Kim has already been successful in numerous fashion competitions, the most recent of which being winning fourth place at the ‘Design am Rhein Award’ at the CPD fashion fair in Düsseldorf. She currently lives in Berlin.
