Educational and capacity building programmes by the Goethe-Institut

Research Journeys and Network Meetings

The Goethe-Institut develops targeted research journeys, or “learning journeys,” and thematic network meetings. These programmes offer professional discussions with relevant cultural and educational institutions, mediate internships and organize vocational, interdisciplinary method and knowledge sharing. They initiate, develop and supervise long-lasting educational programmes.

In three journeys to Egypt, Italy and Germany between June and July 2012, they meet with young committed people from cultural and political areas of civil society to share objectives, methods and challenges with them.

    Cultural television in Egypt
The media, and in particular Internet and television, are gaining importance in Arabic societies.

The advanced training programme Cultural Television is aimed at people working in the media of conventional and online television. During a study journey to Germany they can discuss the existing cultural television formats with their makers and get to know the functions of public television.
Later, representatives of German television broadcasters will travel to Cairo for a conceptual workshop to advise the participants in the production of a pilot version of their own cultural magazine programme.

      New Perspectives Network
The New Perspectives Network pursues the objective of a cross-border alliance of (Russian-speaking) environmental activists, who support one another in the work in their respective countries and raise awareness there for environmental issues.

The participants become familiar with German environmental initiatives working in culturally related formats. The programme also includes project management as well as controlling and moderating processes. The activists develop their own projects in the fields of film, visual arts, theatre and media, which emanate to a number of countries in the region and actively advocate the network ideal.
