The European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) was founded by the governments of Denmark, Germany and Schleswig-Holstein. It is a non-partisan and interdisciplinary institution that conducts application-oriented research, makes information and documentation available, and advises on the theme of minority issues in the European area. It works with various governments and international organisations and investigates potential conflicts in all areas of Europe, with the goal of contributing to solving ethnic tensions.
