The Institute for Energy and Environmental Research (IFEU) is an independent ecological research institute founded by researchers of the University of Heidelberg.
The IFEU's research focal areas are waste management, environmentally friendly energy use, industrial pollution, sustainability as well as the issue of transport and the environment. In addition, the institute is active in environmental education, prepares life cycle analyses and conducts both risk assessments and environmental impact analyses.
The institute is financed solely through project-linked funds. It employs approximately 40 scientists and engineers from a variety of disciplines.
