The FiBS is a private institution that researches and offers consultation on economic issues relating to education, the labour market, social policy and demography. FiBS experts from the areas of policy making, the economy and society as well as from educational and social institutions provide scientifically founded and practical advice. The FiBS initiates, promotes and accompanies the transfer of knowledge and experience, complex processes of transformation, and pilot projects. Analyses, evaluations, concepts and and comparative studies point out perspectives of sustainable development for educational and social systems.

Day nursery, school, university and continuing education are the themes of FiBS's research and consultation projects. Studies on finance, effectiveness, quality, organization and management are the basis for concrete solutions. Additional focal points are gender equality, family and generational policy, fiscal effects, transfer systems, demographic, social and structural parameters.
