The Institute for Development and Peace (INEF) of the University of Duisburg/Essen (Faculty of Social Sciences) deals with issues at the interface of development and peace; combining basic research with application orientation and policy consultation.
The INEF deals with Global Governance, the connections between development and peace, violent conflicts, strategies for peaceful conflict handling, and development policy and human rights policy. Crisis areas and developing societies – and in particular the role of private actors in this context – are the INEF's focal points. The institute closely cooperates with the Development and Peace Foundation (SEF) in Bonn and is embedded in an international research network.
