Sharon Dodua Otoo on her new novel “Adas Raum” and Black Feminist History Writing.


She won the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2016, and now her first novel Adas Raum (Adas room) has been published. Sharon Dodua Otoo explores a range of spaces and times in her book. She guides readers through intricately woven plots set in different time periods and three countries. In this interview the author shares how important she finds spaces and linear storytelling, and which literary tradition she calls her own. “Who matters, who is heard and who is silenced?”
