Bremen based librarian keen on thinking outside the box.

Catharina Boss private What’s a library to you?

To me each library is an essential part of the local social infrastructure. It is a thriving hub serving its community – be it as a centre of knowledge, or as a space for relaxation, entertainment and enjoyment.

What’s the single most essential thing you need in your everyday work?

The single most essential thing that I need in my everyday work is a glass of ice-cold cola with a piece of lemon. It keeps my engine running.

What was the most memorable experience you ever had in a library?

I still remember the moment I first met one of our regular patrons, a now 94-year-old lady, who has lost her eyesight. She used to be an avid reader. These days, she relies on us to provide her with enjoyable audiobooks.
