A librarian working to see the results.

Daria Klenova private What’s a library to you?

Library to me is the place where I can do the most important things:
Inspire people to read, to learn and to broaden the horizons.
Constantly develop my professional skills and do my best to become a better professional.
Be creative and see the results of it every day.

What’s the single most essential thing you need in your everyday work?

  • Internet access
  • Office stationary
  • Coffee, sweets
  • Fresh air (the possibility to open the window or to take short walks during the working day)

What was the most memorable experience you ever had in a library?

When I started to work as a librarian I had a fear of public speaking and doubts if I was doing the right thing. Through hosting big and small Library events (concerts, festivals, work shops, club sessions etc.) I challenged myself and learnt how to enjoy every moment of it. I feel joy and gratitude to the Library I’m working at for letting me be the non-stop developing professional. Now I can say that every Library event is somehow memorable for me.

Increasing importance of social media tools

For years digital services took a very humble place among other types of library services. During the COVID-19 crisis the role of digital offerings has become significantly more important. Nowadays most of the libraries in Russia, no matter how small they are, use technology to improve services for customers.
