Naomi Lesley Alexandra Smith
Emerging International Voices

An unconventional Librarian and Library and Information Studies Student who hopes to use the knowledge gained from an MA degree in Race and Resistance within the Library Sector.

Naomi Smith private What’s a library to you?

A space where difficult yet socially, intellectually and culturally liberating conversations can be started and explored.

What’s the single most essential thing you need in your everyday work?

Water bottle, sweets and the direct number for IT Technicians.

What was the most memorable experience you ever had in a library?

Visiting Los Angeles Public Library last year and having one of the most stimulating and interesting conversations I have ever had. This was with a homeless library patron who visited the library daily with his cat. Our conversation was wide-ranging and covered intellectual freedom, knowledge production and American politics.
