Born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1987, Igor Levit is one of the world’s best and most sought-after contemporary pianists. Levit’s family moved to Hanover in 1995, and he has chosen to make Berlin his home. He plays with world-famous orchestras and has won multiple awards. His work Bach, Beethoven, Rzewski, which won the Gramophone Award in 2016, includes the contemporary piece The people united will never be defeated.
