Brussels: Journalism - Under (high) pressure

Under High Pressure – Media freedom in Europe © Sandra Kastl

Who: Journalists from regional or national media in one of the member states of the European Union

Section: Journalism

Duration: one month

Deadline for submissions: 28 March 2022

What are the challenges facing (independent) journalism in Europe? What threats do journalists and the media face? We explore these questions in our project "Under (High) Pressure", in a dossier and as part of residencies.

Media or press and information freedom are indispensable in the European Union. That is why the Goethe-Institut Belgium and AEJ Belgium support media professionals and journalists. The residency programme gives journalists an opportunity to conduct research and investigative work for four weeks while in residence in Brussels. The aim of the research is a (print or online) publication on the topic of sustainability – disinformation.
