Hanoi: Vietnam grant of the Free State of Saxony

Who: Artists from Saxony (Germany)

Section: Visual Arts

Duration: 3 months

The Hanoi residency programme of the Free State of Saxony was created in 2012. It is awarded annually by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the Goethe-Institut Vietnam.

The grant enables the recipient to engage with the art scene in Vietnam, build up networks and set impulses in the local art scene. The stay is divided into two phases, the focus of the first two months is on work on the planned project, for which a space in the studio of a Vietnamese artist is made available to the recipient. In the final month, the recipient will carry out one-week workshops and performances with young artists at three art academies in Hanoi, Hue and Saigon.

The works arising out of this will then be presented at the art academies. In this way, a bi-national exchange in the form of a work process emerges, that will be lasting both in terms of the joint reflection and its results.
