About the Residence

In May 2024, the Goethe-Institut Dänemark and UNESCO City of Literature Reykjavik will award a scholarship to a German author from one of the following fields: fiction, poetry, drama and children’s books.

The aim of this residency programme is to provide an opportunity to conduct research on a literary project that has Iceland as its starting point or source of inspiration. The scholarship holder will have the opportunity to get to know the local literary scene, to establish and deepen contacts, and to exchange ideas.

The scholarship holder is expected to work together with the local team of UNESCO City of Literature Reykjavik at readings and other literature-related activities.

Authors with at least two published books, at least one of which has been translated into English or a Scandinavian language, are eligible to apply. The applicant should live and work in Germany.
