Who: Applications will be accepted from photographers who live and work in Germany. Applicants are also expected to be open to the culture of the host country. Skills in the Mongolian language are not required.

Section: Visual Arts

Duration: 8–16 weeks in the period between early April and late September 2020. For stays of 8 weeks or more, the residency can be divided up into two stays (a study and a project phase).

Closing date for applications: 1 September 2019

The residency programme is for photographers who live and work in Germany. The programme will be carried out by the Goethe-Institut Mongolia together with the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture (MSUAC), the country’s chief art academy. The residency will enable you to develop and implement your own project. You will be expected to hold at least one workshop with students on location. In addition, active participation in two events during the stay is very desirable. A presentation of your work at the beginning of the residency and a final presentation of the project are planned. The format is flexible; it is also possible to work on an exhibition to be shown in Ulan Bator.
