In the project "Where to?" authors and intellectuals from almost 40 countries were given a questionnaire on refuge and migration. The sources of inspiration were questionnaires by the Swiss writer Max Frisch, who in his diaries formulated them in a concise manner on general topics like friendship, marriage, death or money. It seemed to us a worthwhile attempt to deepen the subject of refuge in a similar way. Contrary to the impression frequently evoked in media, the more than sixty million people who are currently on the run in the world have only in the smallest part Europe as their target destination. For this very reason, a geographical diversity of the countries of origin of our participants was a matter of strong concern for us.
