Concert: Transfigura

Inspired by the final movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, electronic music by four Egyptian artists is combined with Western instruments played by a contemporary ensemble.
Jacqueline George, Khaled Kaddal, Youssra El Hawary and Ahmed El-Ghazouly are going to present a very original take on the final movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, in particular his setting of Schiller's Ode to Joy, in a concert entitled “Transfigura”. These four innovative Egyptian artists make use of electronic sound production in diverse ways. Their creations will be subsequently embedded in the acoustic fabric of a contemporary classical music ensemble. The performance of “Transfigura” will be rounded out by discussion events during the “Identity” forum at the Goethe-Institut Cairo.
