Education at the Goethe-Institut

To create access to education is one of the central purposes of the Goethe-Institut. As a leading provider of German courses and programmes for German teachers, we also offer training and advanced training for the following target groups:

  • artists
  • actors in the areas of media and information & libraries
  • actors in the creative industry
  • EU officials and municipalities
  • employees of German and international business enterprises
  • cultural managers
  • children and young people
In addition to modularly structured and certified training programmes, the Goethe-Institut works with informal formats, including master classes for artists, network meetings for activists and workshops for various cultural professions.

In 2015 and 2016, the Goethe-Institut and Leuphana Digital School offered two Massive Open Online Courses for everyone working in the cultural sector: the MOOC Managing the Arts, a 14-week open online course that featured peer learning, academic mentoring, video case studies and state-of-the-art video lectures. 24.000 people from more than 170 countries partipated in the course.
