Football under Military Guard
Young Afghan women are training on a military field, protected by soldiers. The Afghan national women’s football team was founded eight years ago. It would have been unthinkable under Taliban rule. The Berlin photojournalist Lela Ahmadzai dedicated a series of photos and a film documentary to the players. Both can be seen as part of the exhibition The Game Doesn’t End Until It Ends in the atrium of the Foreign Office in Berlin and other venues until 13 July.
