Pop, go the corks! As is the custom in Congo, the champagne was flowing at the opening of the new liaison office of the Goethe-Institut in Kinshasa on 19 February. After more than 20 years, the Goethe-Institut is once again present in one of Africa’s most dynamic cities. Guests from the city’s political and cultural spheres celebrated the opening of the Goethe-Institut’s 14th presence in sub-Saharan Africa together with the Congolese cultural minister Baudouin Banza Mukalay, German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the president of the Goethe-Institut, Klaus-Dieter Lehmann.
