Poems with Pep
A poetry reading with a football manager? Some expected inside information from the locker room, others Catalan kitsch. Both types of visitors to the Literaturhaus in Munich were disappointed. Instead, they experienced an evening with Pep Guardiola, this time not sitting on the sidelines, but centre stage. Not in a suit, but a t-shirt and white trainers, he recites poetry surprisingly well. The gamut of subject matter was not limited to the heart either. The works by the poet Miquel Martí i Pol, a friend of Guardiola who passed away in 2003, grapple with death, growing older, the courage to start anew, as well as the political situation in Catalonia and the lives of the working class. The reading was organized by the Goethe-Institut together with the Catalonian Institut Ramon Llull and the Literaturhaus Munich.
