“If Kasimir Malewitsch could speak he would have a lot to say to us,” thought the artist Sarah Schönfeld and began prompting the artist, who died in 1935, to talk by means of a medium. She asked her questions with a roulette wheel, balls and a magic wand and then interpreted his replies with the help of academics. Wartime Artists Then and Now: A Centenary Encounter 1914/2014 is a project for which the Goethe-Institut sent painters, photographers and performance artists from Germany, France and Russia through the three countries on the trails of the artists of those days.
