Newspaper caricatures make people all over the world laugh or stop to think. But they can also lead to legal action or even death. Caricatures are therefore a good indicator for the level of freedom of expression that exists, particularly in the Arab world. With the help of works by artists from Egypt, Algeria, Syria and Palestine, this documentary takes an unusual look at the development of freedom of expression in the Arab world and considers the role of caricatures in times of upheaval, a role which is not always obvious.
