The Bouzouki project by Ary Sarhan deals with experimental compositions for lute instruments. The saz, baglama and bouzouki are used to compose and the lyrics come from traditional Kurdish folk songs. This project demonstrates the versatility of these string instruments that have much more to offer than some quick listening. Sarhan’s compositions are inspired by the different environments in which he lives: songs and music from Kurdish cultural heritage and from daily life in Damascus, particularly in the present day.
