Three Goethe-Instituts in central Europe – Vilnius, Bratislava and Prague – are starting an experiment: they are sending “cartes blanches” to the Goethe-Instituts in Cairo, Beirut and Amman and inviting part of their cultural programme from the Middle East to visit Europe. This is the Goethe-Institut’s response to the current tendency towards isolationism and its attempt to counter this by bringing together the different cultural scenes. We have invited three participants in this exchange to reflect upon their situation and artistic work in a mutual discussion.
