Three authors: Syrian Colette Bahna, who lived in Germany for 6 months before returning to Damascus, Assaf Alassaf, a dentist who fled to Germany from Syria and German Ulla Lenze, who spent time in Damascus as a writer-in-residence and wrote about her experiences. All three speak in their own different ways about how they dealt with everything that was new and foreign to them, how they coped with daily life in an unfamiliar city, their feelings, encounters and experiences – sometimes serious, sometimes hilarious.
