“IF WE’RE DOING THE NETHERLANDS, WE’LL DO IT PROPERLY” – MAIRISCH VERLAG IN AMSTERDAM

Panel discussion with Daniel Beskos and Daniël van der Meer | Chaired by: Katharina Borchardt

mairisch goes Amsterdam! In February 2016 the Hamburg-based mairisch Verlag relocated to Amsterdam for a month, to experience the guest of honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair in his natural environment. “If we’re getting to know someone, we’ll do it properly” was the slogan thought up by publishing house staff for this venture. This year 230 new translations from Dutch and Flemish-speaking areas will be published. No other guest country has facilitated so many translations before the book fair has even started.

Daniel Beskos and his team met up with the key players in the Dutch publishing scene, and they didn’t come back empty-handed: for instance they made acquaintance with Daniël van der Meer, editor of the Dutch literature magazine “Das Mag”. In August the publishing house then brought out a special edition of the magazine in German.
Publisher Daniel Beskos and editor Daniël van der Meer speak about their impressions and favourite authors. Chaired by: Katharina Borchardt (Baden-Baden), journalist, SWR.
