“Home visit” gets ten well-known authors from Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Italy and Germany chatting to private individuals. Hosts in over 15 cities are opening their doors to welcome an author. What happens on that evening is down to the author’s imagination – he has carte blanche.
The participants are Alina Bronsky, Marie Darrieussecq, Guy Helminger, Michela Murgia, Katja Lange-Müller, Jordi Puntí, Sasha Marianna Salzmann, Gonçalo M. Tavares, Annelies Verbeke and David Wagner. They will be traveling to one Germany city and one European city between May and October.
The Goethe-Institut is using the innovative format of home visits to enable European citizens to interact with one another. The destinations – large cities and small towns – promise a real selection of unusual encounters.
The authors will be incorporating the impressions gleaned on their travels into a written work. This will be published in Spring 2017 as an e-book in five languages and launched at the Leipzig Book Fair.
