The world-renowned Bayreuth Festival is bringing Richard Wagner’s ’The Valkyrie’ to Abu Dhabi. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, the performances will take place on January 30, 2019 and February 1, 2019 at the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.
On 29 January 2019, the German Embassy in the UAE in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut will hold a symposium the title, ‘Experience Richard Wagner’.
Participants are: HE Minister of State Zaki Nusseibeh, Katharina Wagner (artistic director and co-director of the Bayreuth Festival, great granddaughter of the renowned composer), Prof. Dr. Ulrich Berner (University of Bayreuth), Dr. Ronald Perlwitz (Head of Music and Arts Department, Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi), Prof. Dr. Jeongwon Joe (University of Cincinnati).
A panel discussion with all experts is followed by a film program.
