Künstlerresidenz © Stal Gallery, Muscat, Oman

Berlin artist Janin Walter spends with a scholarship of the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region one month as the artist in residence at Stal Gallery in Oman´s capital Muscat.

Janin Walter´s artistic research focusses on the relationship with beauty: what do the Omani people perceive as beautiful and which architecture is meaningful for them? For her research Janin Walter works closely together with Omani artists. In several workshops, she elaborates together with the Omani peers the thesis of understanding of beauty. The workshop participants visit their favorite architectures in Muscat to discuss why they like these in particular. The result of the research is presented as an 'open studio' with the outcome of the workshops. The collected information ultimately flows into a joint artistic work. which will be exhibited in the Stal Gallery in October.
