“A World Cup like no Other”

To celebrate the first FIFA World Cup in the Arab World, the German Embassy in Doha and the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region, in cooperation with Qatar Museums, are organizing a number of events in Qatar in autumn 2022. Partnering up with Qatar Museums, the events are being organized as legacy projects of the Qatar Germany 2017 Year of Culture.

The German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut are contributing a lecture series to the program at 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum. The jointly organized lectures touch on various aspects related to football: an analysis of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar; a discussion about women and soccer, and an analysis of penalty shootouts and the role of referees. We also take a look at the topic through a creative lens: Jürgen Rank, Senior Design Director Football Apparel at Adidas, will talk about football apparel and explain how a football jersey is designed.
