Tolerance Festival

DIGITAL CALLIGRAFFITI is an interactive live performance aiming at transforming the urban ecosystem into a canvas of expression by bringing together calligraffiti and media art. It combines the traditional cultural technique of calligraphy and graffiti with the possibilities of urban media art and new technologies. With an especially developed live projection system (Infl3ctor), people can write messages while being projected in real-time.

DIGITAL CALLIGRAFFITI will generate in a co-design workshop meaningful messages about tolerance, dialogue, coexistence and openness to different cultures related to the values of The National Festival for Tolerance and Human Fraternity. The participative interactive performance is facilitated by international calligraffiti artists and invites the audience to write their messages & wishes on the Infl3ctor interactive table, using the memorial aesthetics of calligraffiti art to catalyze the communication between the unit and the whole within the framework of the theme “tolerance”. The most relevant messages will be written during the performances and projected in a real-time scenario on the projection wall and the main stage screen.

DIGITAL CALLIGRAFFITI is initiated by Public Art Lab Berlin in cooperation with From Here to Fame and the artists Michael And and Hamza Abu Ayyash - co-funded by the German Foreign Office and Future DiverCities / Creative Europe Programme of the European Union
