Film Screening
70 years of DEFA: Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella
Christmas in July
An iconic movie from 1973 which still remains an inherent part of Christmas celebrations for families in many European countries: Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of DEFA (Deutsche Film AG), this co-production between the former German Democratic Republic and Czechoslovakia will be shown in Melbourne. At the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI), the Czech and Slovak Film Festival of Australia (CaSFFA) and the Goethe-Institut will present a film screening on 23 July 2016.
Based on the novel by Božena Nemcová, the traditional fairy tale is reminiscent of the “Cinderella” version by the Brothers Grimm. The wintry setting creates a special and romantic atmosphere. Christmas feeling in July and a movie which is beautiful and fascinating – this event is a winter highlight for everyone!
The fairy tale movie will be shown in Czech with English subtitles.
