Documentary Film Festival in Sydney

Palace Verona

Antenna Documentary Film Festival returns to Sydney cinemas, and we’re proud to support three films. Mr Bachmann and his Class won the Berlinale’s Silver Bear and Audience Award – a tender films about the inspiring relationship between a German schoolteacher and his teenage class. Garage People explores the lives of everyday people in the Russian Arctic, who find refuge and solace in their garages, while Malka Germania is a work by acclaimed artist Yael Bartana, in which she investigates the longing for collective redemption as a response to an age of anxiety.

Mr Bachmann and his Class – Sydney Premiere

Winner of the Berlinale’s Silver Bear Jury Prize and first ever Audience Award, this sprawling, tender documentary captures the inspiring relationship between an unorthodox German schoolteacher and his culturally diverse teenage class. Despite its length of more than three hours and the fact that it’s a documentary, Mr Bachmann and his Class has been celebrated by critics around the world, and stands at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.10 on IMDB.
