Exhibition Opening: Peter Dittmar

From Munich via Bali to Sydney

Born in Germany, Peter Dittmar is an artist who has lived in Bali for more than 30 years. 20 years ago he settled in Sydney and has worked in both places since then. After focusing on different ways of expression, including landscape, informal abstraction and calligraphy, he recently shifted his attention towards themes that are socially and political relevant. His work is shaped by his studies at the Munich Academy, the tropical environment and culture of Bali and his meditation praxis, resulting in hybrid artworks of the East and West.

Peter Dittmar has worked with the Goethe-Institut in Jakarta and others around the world, including the Goethe-Institut in Sydney, where he will show his latest set of works now. Apart from shows in Germany, Indonesia and Australia he had solo shows in Basel (art fair), Geneva, Hong Kong, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Taipeh, Vienna and Vancouver.
