Screening + Q&A
Ute Aurand and Robert Beavers | Sydney
Cinematic Exploration of 16mm films
This screening explores a selection of 16mm film-works created by three renowned experimental filmmakers. Ute Aurand, Robert Beavers and Gregory Markopoulos share a deep dedication to film as both a material and poetic medium. Encompassing both the minute and the epic, their works speak of their own material and manual processes; of the personal, creative pursuit of the filmmaker.
Aurand, Beavers and Markopoulos are committed to screening their films in the unique environment of the cinema, using the physical format of 16mm film. As such, their films have rarely been screened beyond Europe and America. This event provides Australian audiences with a unique chance to view restored and preserved film prints.
Aurand and Beavers will come to Australia for the first time, offering local audiences the opportunity to participate in this larger cinematic conversation and Q&A.
The films shown will include Ute Aurand's Rasendes Grün mit Pferden, Robert Beavers' Early Monthly Segments and From the Notebook Of… and Gregory Markopoulos' Twice a Man, Ming Green, Bliss and Sorrows.
This event is held in collaboration with Art Gallery of New South Wales.
