Screening + Q&A
Ute Aurand and Gregory Markopoulos | Brisbane
Cinematic Exploration of 16mm films
This screening explores a selection of 16mm film-works created by two renowned experimental filmmakers. Ute Aurand and Gregory Markopoulos share a deep dedication to film as both a material and poetic medium. Encompassing both the minute and the epic, their works speak of their own material and manual processes; of the personal, creative pursuit of the filmmaker.
Aurand and Markopoulos are committed to screening their films in the unique environment of the cinema, using the physical format of 16mm film. As such, their films have rarely been screened beyond Europe and America. This event provides Australian audiences with a unique chance to view restored and preserved film prints.
Aurand will come to Australia for the first time, offering local audiences the opportunity to participate in this larger cinematic conversation and Q&A.
The films shown will include Ute Aurand's OH! The Four Seasons / OH! die vier Jahreszeiten, Kopfüber im Geäst, Am Meer, Im Park, Paulina, Franz, Zuoz and Sakura, Sakura and Gregory Markopoulos' The Illiac Passion.
The event is held in collaboration with Gallery of Modern Art.
