Iranian-born photographer Maziar Moradi studied in Hamburg, Germany. He has received several awards for his photographic works, including the Otto-Steinert-Preis, awarded by the German Photographic Association (DGPh). Maziar's works are also well-known outside Germany, with exhibitions in Arles, Amsterdam and Washington.

After a very successful exhibition and artist in residence at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale 2017,  his exhibition titled "Ich werde deutsch" translated: "I Become German” is now touring to the Goethe-Institut in Sydney.

Maziar's powerful exhibition explores the personal experiences of young people who were forced to leave their countries and start anew as immigrants in Germany. In addition, it captures those who were born in Germany but have grown up under the influence of their families’ experiences, fates and losses of young immigrants.

The work is at once personal and political, focusing on the individual circumstances of each life but also painting an overall picture of the face of immigration and change.

Moradi invites immigrants in Germany to re-enact key scenes of their personal biography, turning them into actors performing their own stories.
