Standard German Courses Blended Learning

From January 2021 onwards we will be offering both: Blended Learning courses with virtual group sessions as well as face-to-face classes at the Goethe-Institut.

Dates and Prices

Independent Working

Learn independently at our learning platform using teaching material about everyday life. You can organise your online tasks flexibly and receive automatic feedback. We offer this for every level and all language learning needs.


Live Sessions

Learn in virtual live sessions together with your tutor and classmates. When practising speaking or writing you receive individual feedback from your tutor.



Your tutor will guide you through the conference tool and learning platform. You receive regular individual feedback throughout the course. If you have questions, you can contact the language course office.

Blended Learning Course

From January 2021 onwards we will be offering both: Blended Learning courses with virtual group sessions as well as face-to-face classes at the Goethe-Institut.

The face-to-face sessions will take place either online in a virtual classroom or face-to-face at the Goethe-Institut.  

You have the choice between 10 - week or more intensive 5-week courses. Please note that our 5-week courses include 75% guided online tuition and 25% live group meetings and will be running fully online. Our 10-week courses include 50% guided online tuition and 50% live group meetings and will give you the choice between virtual live meetings or face-to-face meetings at the Goethe-Institut.

Loyalty Card:
All Goethe students enrolled in any of the Goethe-Institut's language courses can receive a “Goethe-Liebling” loyalty card upon request (valid for enrolments from January 2019 onwards). The “Goethe-Liebling” loyalty card will record the number of courses done by a student. At the completion of three consecutive terms, course participants will be eligible for a 25% discount on their fourth course. It is the students' responsibility to get their Goethe-Liebling Loyalty card stamped at the front desk. Please mention that you would like to receive the discount from your Goethe-Liebling Loyalty card at the time of enrolment. You will not be entitled to retrospectively reclaim a discount. This discount cannot be combined with any other discounts (early bird, student, retired).

Early Bird:
We offer a A$35 early bird discount on our Standard, Intensive and Special Courses 2 weeks before the course starts.

A$ 50 discount on full course fee if you are a full-time student or retired (proof required). Discount applies only for Standard and Intensive Courses with a course fee of A$ 549. Discounts cannot be combined.

Important questions

Blended Learning Standard Courses face to face and online (13th July - 26th September)

For those of you looking for the most face-to-face time with other students and our teachers, this is your best option. Our Blended Learning Courses consist of 50% virtual or face to face group meetings, and 50% flexible online learning, guided and monitored by your tutor. With our sophisticated virtual classroom platform, online live meetings can be just as interactive as meeting at the institute. The group meetings will take place online until in-person classes can continue safely at the Goethe-Institut.
Online Group Courses (20th July - 17th August)
These courses are designed to run online for the full duration of each level, and they are more intensive than Blended Learning Standard Online Courses. There are five virtual online group meetings and you will be working more independently in this format compared to Blended Learning Courses. Nonetheless, your progress is monitored closely and you will be well supported by your teacher throughout the whole course.
Yes, exams take place again. Next exams take place in August at Goethe-Institut Sydney and end of June in Melbourne. Please refer to our website for upcoming exam dates. This is where you will find the latest inormation and updates.

Goethe-Institut opens the doors for the public on the 20th of July. All borrowed books/media have to be returned from the 20th onwards withing July. If you would like to extend your lending period, please email us directly.
