Wolfram Eilenberger and Fritz Breithaupt in Conversation with Kean Wong and Paula Abood, moderated by Simon Longstaff (AO)

Outline

From Australian politicians with two passports to the treatment of the Rohinga in Myanmar, debates around immigration, nationality and citizenship are as divisive as Trump’s proposed wall between the US and Mexico. Globalisation has increased multiculturalism across the world. Yet even in politically stable countries like Germany and Australia, discussions around culture and identity are polarised and tribal. How do we respect diversity without creating division? Join German and Australian thinkers and philosophers for an exploration into dealing with our differences.

This event is part of the series Responsibility & Humanity – Nature, Culture and Terror presented in Australia by the Goethe-Institut. The series investigates key philosophical questions of our time. Curated by a German-Australian team of experts, the events explore topics that challenge and move us. A group of four contemporary German thinkers will join an equally interesting range of Australian guests in a different kind of dialogue.
