Brigitte Herremans studied Eastern Languages and Cultures (Arabic and Biblical Hebrew) at the University of Ghent and International Relations at l’Université Libre de Bruxelles. She also studied in Jerusalem and Cairo.
From 2002 until March 2018 she has worked as a Middle East policy officer for the NGO Broederlijk Delen and the peace movement Pax Christi Flanders. She conducted advocacy at the Belgian and European level on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and wrote a book on the conflict. Since the start of the Arab revolutions, she has closely followed the situation in Syria. She regularly comments in the Belgian media on issues such as human rights and civil society activism.
Since November 2017 Brigitte is a policy officer on the Middle East and North Africa at BOZAR where she coordinates the Mahmoud Darwish Chair
