WHAT CHALLENGES DOES GERMAN-POLISH COOPERATION IN THE EU FACE TODAY?

Germany and Poland share a close relationship which is not only based on their joint membership of NATO (since 1999) and the European Union (since 2004). The two countries also look back on a long shared historical and cultural history and have been closely connected through intensive economic and political exchange for more than 20 years.

But what challenges does the German-Polish relationship face in the EU today? What role will Poland's upcoming EU Council Presidency in 2025 play and how can cooperation between Germany and Poland live up to their shared responsibility in the EU? What added value do cross-border activities offer and how can they promote the cooperation?

Dr. Marek Prawda, Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Viktor Elbling, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Poland, Dr. Marzenna Guz-Vetter, Team Europe Direct Expert of the European Commission, Publicist, former Acting Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Poland, and Justyna Szczepanowska-Bielicka, Senior Specialist in the European Department of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, will discuss this with you on the podium.

Moderation: Monika Sieradzka, Correspondent Deutsche Welle, Warsaw

Event languages (simultaneous interpretation): German, English, Polish

Afterwards, we cordially invite you to make new connections and celebrate old ones over small culinary delights and drinks.

The networking evening is taking place as part of the 30th anniversary of Europanetzwerk Deutsch.
