Art installation in public spaces

Due to the new Corona regulations of 24.10.2020, the event unfortunately has to be cancelled. We regret this very much, take care of yourself and stay healthy!

Whether it’s a quote from Hannah Arendt, a lyric from a Beatles tune or a statement by the Belgian author Rachida Lamrabet, in local competitions, the Goethe-Institut asked people in Europe for their favourite quotes from high and pop culture. The quotes submitted, which reflect the linguistic and intellectual diversity of Europe, are now being engraved on 6,000 wooden blocks and made visible as wall-installations called “Disappearing Walls”. Once the interactive art work is unveiled, visitors have the possibility to take the quotations home with them. All that remains is the transparent frame: the wall has disappeared. From August to November 2020, the installation will go on display in ten European countries, during the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union. In Belgium, the installation will be open for the public in front of the Delta Namur-Espace Culturel Provincial as part of the Namur KIKK Festival 2020 from 05 – 08 November, and it can also be visited in Antwerp and Brussels.
