At our second international book club event in 2023, we are delighted to welcome Torsten Schulz who will present his book Öl und Bienen ("Oil and Bees").
The days when people in Beutenberge longed for the triumph of oil are long gone. Instead, Lothar Ihm and his friends hope at most for the next smuggled LP record from the West. But then a swarm of women eager to get married invades the provincial village in Havelland, and nothing stays the same. A delightfully bizarre GDR novel about the persistence of old and new myths.
All are welcome to join us for the live online event, at which the author will discuss and read from Öl und Bienen. It's not essential to have read the book in advance. Participation is free of charge and the discussion takes place in German.
