An ecology of interconnections
Afrofuturism and African contemporary history: These are the core themes of the multidisciplinary festival Africa is/in the Future. Musician Senu from Slic-Unit, a collective of five DJs from Hamburg and Berlin, will headline the closing night on 11 November.
The seventh edition of
Africa is/in the Future focuses on relationships and dynamics in networks. How do you build a community? How do you nurture it, for yourself and for others? By what means and to what end? Because cultivating community is about knowledge and its exchange, as well as its preservation and further development.
The festival combines discussions, workshops, film screenings and performances. The Goethe-Institut Brussels supports the festival with musical contributions from Germany.
The festival is organised by curator Marie Umuhoza together with Eric Cyuzuzo in and with La Bellone. In partnership with Kaaitheater, Decoratelier, Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles and Cinéma Galeries.
