Comic Residency 2023: Sophie Artz
For over a decade, the GRAFIXX Festival for graphic arts has been held at
De Studio, Antwerp's creative center. Under the theme
friction, a diverse group of international artists will once again captivate audiences through live performances, lectures, exhibitions, and workshops. To mark the festival, the Goethe-Institut Brussels, in collaboration with dasKULTURforum Antwerp, is once again organizing an art residency.
This year's resident artist will be
Sophie Artz, who resides in Berlin. In addition to the opportunity to connect with the local arts scene, she will also have the chance to showcase her works at the GRAFIXX Festival.
In her work Artz examines the boundaries between science and art. Historical concepts of utopia and paradise, metaphysical questions about the origin of our existence and the delimitation of the wilderness from culture are the nucleus of her work.
