Artistic strategies to come to grips with right-wing violence
Uncivil Society: An online series of artistic strategies to come to grips with right-wing violence
The "Uncivil Society" project of the Goethe-Instituts in Brussels, Budapest, Milan and Oslo will start with an online series exploring artistic strategies for coming to grips with neo-Nazi violence. Artists in various European countries and disciplines are invited to discuss their approaches to the problem.
Over the past few years, artistic initiatives in Germany, Norway, Hungary, Italy and other European countries have made a key contribution to efforts to process right-wing terrorist crimes and to identify the social causes thereof. Many of these artistic positions seek to make the voices of victims and survivors heard with a view to restoring some measure of their dignity.
The series will gradually form a panoramic view of the various artistic strategies employed.
The whole series will be moderated by the journalist Matthias Dell.
