Biographie

In February 2015, Nanette Jacomijn Snoep took over the management of the three Ethnological Museums in Saxony - GRASSI Museum of Ethnology Leipzig, Museum of Ethnology Dresden, Museum of Ethnology Herrnhut (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden) with over 300,000 objects from Africa, America, Oceania, Australia and Asia and a collection of more than 200,000 photographs, drawings and paintings constitute the second largest collection of their kind in Germany. Previously, she worked for 15 years at the Paris Musée du Quai Branly, most recently as senior curator of the Historical Collection (now: Historical and Contemporary Globalization). She has also taught African Art History (Ecole du Louvre and Université Nanterre, Paris) and has curated international exhibitions, including Exhibitions, l'Invention du Sauvage 2011 in Paris (Prix du Cristal / Best Exhibition of France 2011) and Les Maîtres du Désordre 2012 in Paris, with stops at the Kunsthalle Bonn 2012 (Fools Artists, Holy Praise of Folly) and the Fundacio La Caixa 2013 in Madrid (Los Maestros del Caos) or Vodou, L'Art de Voir Autrement (Vodoo, The art of seeing differently), Chateau d'Eau - Musée Vodou, Strasbourg.
