Amaro de Duarte Abreu

Amaro Abreu, is based in Porto Alegre, Brazil and studies Visual Arts at Universidade Luterana do Brasil (ULBRA). He has painted for and participated in events in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro e Santa Catarina. Outside the country of Brazil he worked in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, Egypt, Lebanon and India. He realized an individual exhibition called Habitat in Porto Alegre, Canoas, Nova Prata, Bagé and Santa Maria as well as another one called Parallel Life in the Galeria Mário Quintana. Furthermore, he participated in the collective exhibitions “Faço Parte” (Brazil), “Conexion Arte Melo” (Uruguay) and Somos Todos (Mexico). He acted in the short films “CineMarighella” and “Graficleta”, produced by students of the Institute of Photography for Film and Video. He realized several Graffiti workshops for children for the Project Mais Educação. Ambreu took part in the “Mutirão Luz no Cárcere”, a project in which he painted the courtyard of the central prison. In addition, he was the curator of the project Canoas Multicultural, which consisted of a wall being painted by various artists in the city of Canoas. In 2016 Amaro Abreu published a book with images and writings about his artistic trajectory (Editora Libretos).
