Nadine Siegert is the deputy head of the Iwalewahaus, a musem and research hub of the University of Bayreuth, Germany. She studied ethnology, philosophy and sociology at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz (Germany). In 2006 she transferred to the University of Bayreuth where she worked as a member in research projects on African media art at the Iwalewahaus and curated exhibitions on African contemporary art. In 2013 she earned her PhD on contemporary art in Angola from the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies. Since 2016 she heads the research project African Art History and the Formation of a Modernist Aesthetic and does research on socialist aesthetics in Africa, particularly on the iconography of militant femininity in lusophone Africa. Some of her more recent exhibition curations were: Mashup (2015), Things Fall Apart (2016) und FAVT: Future Africa Visions in Time (since 2015).
Nadine Siegert holds a scholarship from the Robert Bosch Stiftung as a resident at Vila Sul.
